This Saturday at the Desert Diamond Arena in Arizona, the Mexican Emanuel Navarrete and the Australian Liam Wilson faced each other. It only took 9 rounds for the “Vaquero” to take the victory and thus become super featherweight champion and enter the history of Mexican boxing as three-time champion in three different divisions.
The first round started with few connections for both fighters and they dedicated themselves to studying each other, and in the second round some goals were exchanged and in the third Navarrete was able to connect many more to Wilson.
In the fifth and sixth round Navarrete matched and was able to recover from that fall to the canvas. Twice the Australian was on the ground before receiving a defining offensive from the Mexican. The judge stopped the fight at one minute to finish the ninth round to decree the final knockout.
With this victory, Emanuel Navarrete entered the select group of three-time Mexican champions, achieving it in three different categories and registering his name along with those of Julio César Chávez, Érik Morales, Marco Barrera, Juan Manuel Márquez, Jorge Arce, Fernando Montiel, Ábner Mares and Saúl. Alvarez.
