A Florida elementary school teacher is facing multiple charges for allegedly having sexual relations with a 13-year-old student, with whom he allegedly had encounters inside the classroom, authorities said.
The subject identified as Davis Augustine Hodge Jr., 30, was formally charged Wednesday with four counts of engaging in a sexual act with a minor over the age of 12, who was his student, and called her his “girlfriend,” they said. The authorities.
According to investigators, Hodge was involved with the school’s chess club, as was the victim, meeting on at least four occasions after school allegedly having sexual contact.
In addition, Hodge was serving as his victim’s science teacher while the victim was a senior. Later they began to speak on social networks.
According to reports, their conversations took place via Instagram, first discussing classes, but later being sexual in nature, including compromising photos by a couple of Hodge.
After the alleged social media contact between Hodge and the girl, the suspect ordered him to lie to his parents in order to meet, telling him he should tell his parents he was staying after school for tutoring, according to court records. .
Hodge and the girl are believed to have had sex three times in November and once on Jan. 6, the last time they were alone, according to police.
Hodge appeared before Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Mindy S. Glazer Thursday when Miami-Dade Public Defender Anna Nicole-Cooke was assigned to him.
During the hearing, Judge Glazer informed the defendant that he faces serious charges and was denied bail.
Meanwhile, the girl’s mother, Alexandria Jackson, said she was “disgusted” by the possible crimes Hodge was charged with.
“My daughter is 13 years old, she is in the classroom with them. They talked to this teacher,” Jackson said in statements collected by WSVN. “Everyone thinks that he is a great teacher and that he is only preparing little girls. That’s crazy”.
“They had interactions with him and thought he was a fun-loving teacher, but was he a predator all along? It’s crazy to me,” Jackson added to Local 10 News in the school parking lot.
Hodge is currently incarcerated at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
