The Spanish-Brazilian Gabriel Paulista has made public his apologies to the Brazilian Vinícius Júnior for his strong entry in an action in which he had no opportunity to reach the ball and ended up dangerously knocking down the Merengue player.
It was at minute 71 when Vini was going to deepen down the left flank with Real Madrid up 2-1 and Paulista knew he was going to be outpaced. Therefore, he decided to go for the attacker.
After the action, Vinícius went to face Paulista and a slight brawl broke out, but it all came down to a red card for the black and white player.
Once the match ended, the criticism from Internet users and journalists made itself felt, since the majority condemned the attitude of Paulista, who, given the pressure, has publicly apologized.
“I accept the criticism and the red card, I am not proud. I am a blunt player, but noble. I respect Vinicius and it was never my intention to hurt him. We are suffering a lot at this great club, experiencing a very difficult situation and feelings are running high. Sometimes it is difficult to control the nerves. I didn’t control them and I sincerely apologize. Sorry fan. We will continue fighting until the end to reverse this situation. Let no one doubt us”, were the words of the player.
Gabriel Paulista received a two-match ban
The Competition Committee of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) announced a two-match suspension for Gabriel Paulista for considering his entry as an assault. Therefore, the clashes against Girona and Athletic Bilbao will be lost.
