The district attorney in the case for the murder and beheading of the Nicaraguan Anggy Díaz at the hands of her husband Jared Dicus in Texas indicated that they are working hard to bring justice not only to the young woman but also to her family.

“The case will proceed through the Waller County 506 Judicial District Court. We will work hard on behalf of Ms. Diaz and her family to see justice done in this horrible case,” Waller County District Attorney Elton R. Mathis said in a news release after a grand jury indicted Dicus for first-degree murder for the events that occurred between January 10 and 11.

After this process, the prosecutor had requested an increase in bail from $500,000 dollars to $1 million because he understood that the initial sum imposed on 21-year-old Dicus was too low in view of the heinous nature of the crime charged against him.

Last week, before the hearing in which the judge granted the motion to increase the bond was seen, Mathis expressed in statements to KHOU 11 his confidence that the request would prosper.

“I determined that it was insufficient. I believe that this judge is going to consider the figure of $500,000 very low considering the nature of the case and his past experiences with the authorities,” he stated.

The prosecutor refers to the altercation between Dicus and police officers, after they were arrested on November 20 for driving while intoxicated.

After being arrested, Dicus became violent and threatened not only the officers who intervened with him, but also staff at the jail to which he was transferred.

Dicus reportedly hit windows and had to be forced into a chair to take a blood test.

More than two weeks after the attack at the home that the couple shared in Magnolia, the motive for the crime has not been established or at least has not been publicly disclosed.

The young man would have undertaken it from behind with a kitchen knife against Díaz, also 21, before slitting her throat.

Dicus’s parents, who lived in a residence near the couple’s, were the first to come across the remains of the Hispanic woman and alert the authorities.

The events were reported less than four months after the couple tied the knot in a private civil ceremony.
