The Pumas UNAM press team has prevented the Brazilian Higor Meritao from giving any statement about the loss of his compatriot Dani Alves, who was separated from the club in mid-February after his arrest in Spain on charges of rape.
During a press conference, a reporter asked Meritao if the sudden departure of Alves will negatively affect Pumas in their aspirations to win the Liga BBVA MX Clausura 2022.
Meritao began to respond: “I know that Dani Alves is a personal issue, a very complicated issue, the board of directors and the coaching staff are going to do…”, but at that moment a member of the press team interrupted him, who He immediately passed question time to another journalist.
Pumas would have asked Alves for $5 million dollars
Recently, the Brazilian outlet UOL leaked information suggesting that the cats requested compensation of 5 million dollars from the ex-Barcelona winger for violating a conduct clause in his contract when he was arrested on January 20 for being accused of sexually violating a a woman in a nightclub in Barcelona.
UOL indicated that Pumas sent an email to Alves on January 20, informing him of his dismissal, as well as the payment of the million-dollar sum that he would have to pay.
The outlet assured that Pumas requires such an amount from Alves based on a conduct clause established in the contract, in case of scandals that are made public.
So far, neither Alves nor Pumas have denied the information from UOL.
