tips-to-save-when-buying-the-engagement-ring

Wedding rings are a major purchase, so when looking for the “perfect” it’s important to do it smartly so your pocket won’t hurt as much.

In this month of love and friendship, when many couples decide to take the plunge of becoming engaged, we spoke with the experts at Daniel’s Jewelers (www.danielsjewelers.com), a third-generation family business founded in 1948 with more than 100 stores. across the country to share their best tips on buying this important gem. This was what they said.

Consider cheaper options: Clear diamonds are always in demand, which means they cost more. However, more and more people are opting for colored gemstones and diamonds because they offer a unique look and are more affordable, brand spokespersons explain.

  • Lab-grown diamonds are exactly the same as mined diamonds, but come at a lower price. This is not to say that they are fake diamonds and they are not alternatives, such as cubic zirconia or moissanite. In fact, at the molecular level, lab-grown diamonds are indistinguishable from mined diamonds, with identical chemical and physical properties. It is worth mentioning that this type of creation of diamonds in the laboratory does not have any type of impact on the environment.
  • You can easily get a simple white gold wedding ring with a single diamond for around a thousand dollars. The size of the diamond greatly influences the cost. The larger the diamond, the heavier, rarer, and more expensive.
  • Smaller diamonds are relatively cheap, so you can get a great price for a wedding ring that has lots of small diamonds.
  • Tungsten bands are made from metals other than gold and are especially popular with gentlemen couples. Tungsten is very durable and often costs less than gold, even if you decide to set some diamonds on it.
  • Another option that could save you more money is the trio ring set. The price of a set is usually a big discount compared to what you would pay for three separate rings. Plus, they’re designed to look perfect together.

What factors must be taken into account, in terms of stone, materials, design?

Look for something classic and simple, some models are:

Solitaire ring: they are a classic, simple and timeless design that presents a single center stone. This type of ring usually features a diamond in the center, held by a neat, elegant prong setting to hold the diamond in place. The material is usually white gold between 10 and 14 carats.

Halo Ring: Instead of a single center stone, halo rings have a center stone surrounded by smaller diamonds like a halo. The smaller diamonds in the halo enhance the beauty and appearance of the center stone to capture more light and make the center diamond appear larger and more brilliant. Halos are also very popular when paired with non-traditional center stones, such as emeralds, sapphires, rubies, or morganites.

Three Stone Ring: Three stone rings are a classic design featuring a center stone, flanked by a smaller stone on either side. These side stones serve the same purpose as a halo ring, in that they are meant to enhance the size and beauty of the center stone. The center stone is usually a diamond, but it can also be a colored stone and the same applies to the side stones.

Consider the sparkle and dimension and how the ring will look on the hand.

Cluster Ring: These types of rings are actually a set of diamonds close together to give the appearance of a brilliant center stone. However, because cluster diamonds are made up of a group of smaller carat diamonds, they are often less expensive. They can also be used to create unique shapes such as flowers, starbursts, or hearts for a unique or vintage look.

What are the current trends?

Just like with fashion, vintage styles are coming back into style. The biggest trend right now in rings is elongated cuts for the center diamonds. This includes oval, emerald-shaped, elongated cushion cut, and pear cuts.

Another big trend that is slowly growing is super thin and dainty bands, which help make them possible to stack and combine with other rings and also allow the center stone to stand out more.
