The Colombian justice system sentenced a man to 20 years and 10 months in prison this Saturday for drugging and robbing more than 50 members of the LGBTIQ+ community, between 2018 and 2022 in the city of Medellín and other municipalities in the department of Antioquia. .

As reported by the Colombian Prosecutor’s Office through his Twitter account, the defendant Julián Esteban Caro, alias “El Ingeniero”, “profiled the victims through the personal information they published on social networks” and then contacted them through various applications to make appointments with them.

According to the police investigation, once the subject was left with the appointment and gained the trust of the victims, “he entered their homes and there he supplied them with substances to break their will and later commit the theft.”

During this period of time, alias “El Ingeniero” stole money, jewelry and even vehicles worth more than 1,300 million pesos (more than $260,000 dollars).

More than half of the thefts were committed last year, according to the investigation, in Medellín and the cities of Envigado and Itagüí.
