The New York Police Department (NYPD) reported that a man was shot multiple times in the lobby of his apartment building in the Bronx on Saturday night. Despite the fact that the victim received medical attention at Lincoln Hospital, he did not manage to survive.

According to the NYPD report, the witnesses affirm that the victim would have had an argument with the murderer around 11 o’clock at night on Sheridan Avenue, near E. 169 Street, reported the Daily News.

In this sense, the authorities detailed that the suspect opened fire, hitting the victim in the head and chest and then fled in a vehicle. The police are investigating the facts, but so far no arrests have been made for this crime.

Another murder in Queens

Over the course of Saturday, authorities also reported the murder of a woman in Queens, after receiving multiple stab wounds from her son. By the time authorities arrived at the scene, Dennis Cho, the 20-year-old son of the victim, 59-year-old Hyun Sook Cho, was captured.

Cho is also accused of beating and choking his 61-year-old father, who was found in the home with a cut hand and injuries to his head and neck. In addition, the young man will be charged with murder, assault, obstruction of breathing and other charges.

During the first months of 2023, serious crimes increased by 4.1% with 10,067 complaints compared to the same period last year, when 9,672 of the seven major crimes were registered. Felony assaults drove the increase, reaching 2,056 reports, an increase of 14.9% over last year, according to data released by the NYPD.
