The TikTok user, known as Taylor (@taylorryannardone), said that several of his former colleagues questioned his decision.

“’How did you afford to quit your job? Oh my God, how are you living? How are you going to pay your bills?’” Taylor says in an affected voice, mocking the people who constantly asked him these questions after he quit.

Finally, he adds by way of answer: “Because they paid me poorly at work.”

Compared to other industrialized nations, teachers in the US are paid significantly lower on average, as reported in The Daily Dot.

The difference in average teacher salaries in the United States is noticeably smaller compared to countries like Luxembourg, where teachers are paid $101,360.

On the other hand, in the US the average salary is $62,102, which represents a difference of almost $40,000.

In the video, Taylor went on to explain the reasons why she gave up her career as a teacher.

After working in teaching for five years, he says he realized he was underpaid, earning just $55,000 a year.

He adds in an overlay that, after deductions, he was actually left with $38,000.

“Now I earn that amount of money in 3 days a week working as a waiter. And if I went to a high-end restaurant, I would be doubling that,” he said.

Taylor then explains that he was willing to quit his steady job as a teacher for a short period of time to see how he could do at another job, but now, at the moment, he doesn’t plan on going back to school.

In the comments section, most TikTokers supported Taylor’s decision to change her career path.
