subject-faces-manslaughter-charges-after-stabbing-his-mother-to-death-in-queens

A Queens man was arrested for stabbing his mother to death at the family home, authorities said.

Identified as 20-year-old Dennis Cho, he faces murder and weapons charges after officers found his mother, 60-year-old Hyun Sook Cho, face down on a bed covered in blood at their 191st Street home. near Station Road in Auburndale last Friday at 2:00 p.m.

EMS transported the victim to New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Queens, where she was pronounced dead, the Daily News reported.

“They brought their mother in on a stretcher. His chest was covered in blood,” said a neighbor who gave his name as Harry. “They were doing chest compressions, but she was unresponsive.”

Moments later, police officers led Cho out of the house in handcuffs, Harry explained.

A neighbor said she saw Cho about an hour before the attack on Friday. “She was smoking up there on the terrace,” said the woman, who preferred to remain anonymous.

Cho was also charged with beating and choking his 61-year-old father, who was also found at the home with a cut hand and injuries to his head and neck, police said. The man refused to receive medical attention at the scene.

Cho was also charged with assault and criminal obstruction of breathing for attacking his father, authorities said.

The bloodshed on Friday put an end to the ongoing violence between Cho and his parents, police sources said.

On December 24, Cho was arrested for punching his mother in the face and stabbing her in the foot with pliers during an altercation a week earlier. He was charged with assault and harassment and was released without bail after a short arraignment, according to court documents.

Harry said officers were at the family residence for heated arguments on multiple occasions. After the most recent visit by police officers to the house on Christmas Eve, Cho seemed to disappear for a while, he added.

“It’s a little off. I used to smoke pot in front of my kids,” he said of the son. “I used to walk backwards up and down the block.”
