chatgpt-is-replacing-workers-in-the-us,-survey-reveals

ResumeBuilder.com, the online resume building site, surveyed 1,000 US business leaders and found that 1 in 4 companies have already replaced workers with ChatGPT, the model-based chat system of language by Artificial Intelligence (AI).

“With the emergence of ChatGPT in November 2022, the question of how AI can affect jobs is top of mind for many. The publicly accessible AI chatbot has many capabilities, including the ability to answer questions, create content, write code, and more,” the ResumeBuilder.com report says.

The survey was conducted in the US in February to see how many companies currently use or plan to use ChatGPT.

Key survey results:

– 49% of companies currently use ChatGPT; 30% plan
– 48% of companies using ChatGPT say it has replaced workers
– 25% of companies using ChatGPT have already saved more than $75k
– 93% of current users say they plan to expand their use of ChatGPT
– 90% of business leaders say the GPT chat experience is a beneficial skill for job seekers

Of the companies currently using ChatGPT, 66% use it to write code, while 58% use it for copywriting/content creation, 57% for customer support, and 52% for creating meeting recaps. or documents.

Most companies also use ChatGPT to make hiring easier; 77% say it helps them write job descriptions, 66% write interview requests, and 65% respond to applicants.

“There is a lot of excitement around using ChatGPT,” said Senior Career Advisor Stacie Haller. “Just as technology has evolved and replaced workers in recent decades, ChatGPT can affect the way we work. As with all new technology, the use of ChatGPT by businesses will continually evolve and we are only just getting started.”

In the future, ChatGPT may lead to more layoffs, according to business leaders. When asked if ChatGPT will cause any workers to be laid off by the end of 2023, 33% of business leaders answered “definitely”, while 26% answered “probably”.

As this new technology is spreading in the workplace, workers surely need to think about how it may affect their current job responsibilities.

In this regard, Haller says that: “The use of this technology is certainly something that employees and candidates will want to be up to date. Job seekers should certainly add this skill if they have it on their resume, and employers should add it to their list of required or preferred skills if it’s something they expect from candidates. As seen throughout history, as technology evolves, the skills of workers must also evolve and change.”
