A 33-year-old man who worked at the Google offices in New York City was found dead in an apartment in Chelsea, Manhattan, earlier this month, and whose death was confirmed on Monday.
An NYPD spokesman told the New York Post Monday about the death of Jacob Pratt, saying officers responded to a 911 call at a residence at the corner of West 26th Street and 6th Avenue in Manhattan just before 6:00 pm on February 16.
Police noted that upon arriving at the scene, officers observed a 33-year-old man unconscious and unresponsive. Paramedics then arrived to pronounce Pratt dead at the scene.
“The New York City Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death and the investigation is ongoing,” the NYPD said, adding that investigators found no signs of foul play.
Pratt was a “partnership leader at Google,” according to his LinkedIn page, while an obituary noted that he was an accounting manager at the tech company, where he spent nearly four years.
An obituary published by the Lansing State Journal said Pratt died “unexpectedly” on February 16, and lived in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn.
Also, the 33-year-old is a graduate of Northwestern University in Chicago, according to an obituary.
“His interests in advertising and technology led him to his dream job as an accounting manager at Google in Manhattan,” the obituary noted.
The deceased’s sister, Jenna Pratt, organized a crowdfunding page on GoFundMe, where donors could make a charitable contribution in her brother’s name.
“He touched the lives of everyone he interacted with, whether it was through his school, work or personal travel,” said the Pratt family, who asked donors to send their contribution to the Maka-A-Wish Michigan Foundation, and the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
The family is expected to host a celebration of his life Tuesday at 11:00 am at Riverview Church’s REO Town Venue in Lansing, according to his obituary.
