government-of-canada-prohibits-its-federal-employees-from-downloading-tik-tok-on-their-cell-phones

Starting this Tuesday, Canadian government employees will not have the right to download the social network of Chinese origin for reasons associated with the privacy and security of their employees. The platform has been accused of being a spying tool by the United States authorities, which for Canadians means a risk to their digital security.

Treasury Board of Canada President Mona Fortier said in a statement that federal officials who have downloaded the mobile version of Tik Tok will have to remove it from their devices starting Tuesday. Among the measures that the Canadian Executive will take is the blocking from the app stores to obtain a social network.

In this sense, the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, said at a press conference that despite the fact that his government guarantees freedom of expression as a right “there are much more important principles about the safety of Canadians.”

Tik Tok marked as a spy tool

Recently, the Florida Congress will study a proposal by Governor Ron DeSantis, which prohibits the use of TikTok and other social networks from countries that are cause for “concern” in universities and schools of the public system of this state. Like Canada, the Americans have banned their federal employees from using the social network.

In the words of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, one of those who battle the most against the social network, the use of TikTok, WeCha and QQ are cause for “concern” for the United States. In addition to the fact that the governor’s office affirms that the proposal intends to protect the privacy and “digital rights” of the citizens of Florida.

This measure is being chosen by the state of Texas, also alleging internal security reasons for the United States, pointing out Tik Tok as “vulnerable for digital security”.
