The Xolos de Tijuana achieved a valuable victory in the Clausura 2023 tournament of the Liga MX after defeating Club Pachuca on the Estadio Caliente field, a result that undoubtedly allows them to dream of the possibility of advancing to the Liguilla of the championship and thus get great results in the future.
Given this fact, the technical director of the Aztec organization, Miguel Herrera, assured that despite the bad start that this campaign had, they still have time to qualify for the next round and become protagonists of the current tournament.
“We have eight finals left, we are going to fight with everything, we want to qualify, enter the party and be a leading team. Since I arrived I told them (the players) that this team was going to kill each other on the field, the important thing is to kill and not bow your head. In the first games we were left with a bitter taste despite playing well, but the team is there,” said the strategist during a press conference.
In the same press conference, the ‘Piojo’ Herrera was calm about the performance that his players have shown in the last commitments; the coach highlighted the great offense they had in the duel against Pachuca, especially in the first half of the game.
“I think we were more direct, we got to their draw very quickly, the team leaves me alone that we’re going, we don’t throw bells flying, it’s a victory, it’s adding three points and it’s starting the climb to enter the top eight. We are not going to handcuff the champion and a team that always hurts so easily, but we managed to hang a zero on goal, which was important”, added the strategist.
The Xolos de Tijuana are in the 12th position of the Liga MX classification table with a total of 10 points, ranking in the same place as the Cruz Azul Máquina team and one of Club León, Juárez FC and the Pumas of the UNAM.
