Many of California’s citizens will receive an extension on their federal tax deadline due to the natural disasters that hit the state this year, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) reported.

The deadline change benefits much of California that has been affected by severe winter storms, flooding, mudslides and mud, the IRS announced.

People seeking to file various individual and business federal tax returns for which tax payments will have until October 16, according to officials. The original deadline for the affected areas was April 18 and later extended it to May 15.
