The president informed through a statement of Su’s nomination. However, the nomination must be ratified by the Senate.

The possible arrival of Su, who has been serving as an undersecretary in that department, comes after Walsh left Administration to head the Professional Hockey Players Union.

“She is a proven and experienced leader, who will continue to build a stronger, more resilient, and inclusive economy that gives Americans a fair return for their work and an equal chance to get ahead,” Biden said in the statement.

Biden also noted that the future secretary has spent her life “to make sure everyone has a fair chance,” and doesn’t let any worker or community be disadvantaged. He is a graduate of Stanford University and Harvard Law School. He is fluent in two languages ​​besides English: Mandarin and Spanish.

Su was a civil rights lawyer for 17 years, representing workers in cases such as 72 Thai garment workers who were trafficked into the United States and forced to work under armed guard and behind barbed wire.
