The president of the French Football Federation (FFF), Noël Le Graët, resigned on Tuesday after the series of scandals against him for alleged sexual harassment.
The 81-year-old Le Graët’s resignation was made official during a meeting held by the federation’s executive committee in Paris.
Le Graët had been in the highest position of the FFF for 11 years, and his replacement will be Vice President Philippe Diallo, who will occupy the position on an interim basis until January 11.
Le Graët was removed from his responsibilities on January 11 after the pressure that existed against him.
The turning point was an interview they did to him on a radio station, where he made fun of coach Zinedine Zidane.
In addition, on the 30th, an inspection report commissioned by the Ministry of Sports on the management of the FFF was published, in which a “sexist and violent environment” was denounced, as well as other “dysfunctions” and, above all, insisted on that Le Graët let the situation get worse.
The conclusion of the editors of that document is that it no longer had “the necessary legitimacy to manage and represent French football”, among other things due to “a problematic attitude” towards women that “can be described as sexist at least”.
Despite everything, after his resignation, Le Graët is expected to question all these accusations and launch a defense operation, in the media and legal fields.
