Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) could face new problems after the French Justice launched an investigation against the team’s president, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, for his alleged participation in the kidnapping and torture of a French-Algerian businessman in Qatar during the year 2020, as reported by the French medium ‘L’Equipe’.
According to the aforementioned source, the French Justice has appointed three investigating judges from Paris to investigate Al-Khelaïfi, who was accused by the Franco-Algerian businessman, Tayeb Benabderrahman, of causing his arrest in January 2020 in Qatar and imprisoned for six months before being placed under house arrest and released in November of that year.
Despite all the commotion that this news has generated in France, there are still some doubts about why the businessman was arrested and imprisoned? However, it seems that these will not be known soon since, according to the lawyer, his client had to sign a confidentiality agreement on certain information regarding the World Cup in Qatar.
This information apparently involves the PSG president in shady actions, like the many that were denounced around the organization of the last World Cup.
“We are very happy that the real file of this story is finally the subject of an investigation by the French Justice”, declared the defense of the complainant to the ‘AFP’ agency, which has been in charge of publicizing this case to the world.
Said source presumes that the information that could affect Nasser Al-Khelaïfi would have to do with the World Cup television rights and that it could be on the mobile phone that the Franco-Algerian businessman had at the time of his arrest in the Arab country.
For their part, the lawyers of the president of the Parisian team have preferred not to speak in public, making it clear that the information they handle is protected under client-attorney confidentiality.
Meanwhile, businessman Tayeb Benabderrahmane will have to wait for the investigations by the appointed judges to be carried out so that their representatives can then act as they see fit.
