baby-suffocates-to-death-in-her-grandmother's-car-in-florida-less-than-a-year-after-her-little-brother-drowned-in-the-woman's-care

A grandmother in Florida faces charges for the death of her granddaughter under a year old, just months after her 16-month-old brother drowned when he was supposed to be in the woman’s care.

Tracey Nix, 65, is facing charges of aggravated manslaughter in the death of 7-month-old Uriel Schock, who died on November 1 in the back seat of the defendant’s SUV while being neglected by the defendant.

The defendant, who is a former school principal, alleged that she forgot about the infant after driving to her home in the town of Wauchula after having lunch with friends.

The woman left the little girl in 90-degree temperatures with the windows rolled up, according to the Hardee County Sheriff’s Office complaint.

The baby died 11 months after Ezra, her brother, drowned in a pond due to the woman’s alleged lack of supervision.

At that time, the grandmother watched over the child while Kaila Nix, the mother, did her hair.

After Ezra’s death, Kaila and her husband Drew Schock lost trust in the woman and would not let their other four-year-old daughter stay with her.

However, Kaila decided to give her mother another chance.

“We were anxious, but I love my mother and I was a daughter who wanted her mother in my daughter’s life in some way, and at that moment, I thought I could believe in second chances,” said the woman. as quoted by various local and national media.

However, the little girl was found dead when another of Tracey’s grandchildren arrived at her house and she suddenly realized that she had left the infant in the car all day.

During the preliminary hearing of the case held this week, Kaila considered that her mother should serve jail time for the facts.

In Ezra’s case, the little boy died in a pond near Tracey’s house when the woman fell asleep. The incident was classified as an accident so no charges were filed against Tracey.
