The casualties for the second leg of the Copa del Rey that will take place on April 5 at the Spotify Camp Nou begin to sound. On this occasion the victim has been Real Madrid, who have announced a new injury to their left-back, the Frenchman Ferland Mendy.

“After the tests carried out on our player Ferland Mendy by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the left soleus. Pending evolution ”, published the white club in a statement.

The 27-year-old defender has had one of his most hampered seasons with Real Madrid due to injuries, having joined the team just 12 days ago after being out for several weeks.

Mendy was called up for the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Liverpool, but coach Carlo Ancelotti preferred to save him for El Clásico against FC Barcelona on March 19, where he came on as a substitute for Nacho Fernández in the 62nd minute.

So far this season, Mendy has only been able to play in 15 of the 22 games that Real Madrid has played in La Liga Santander, while in the 8 Champions League duels he has seen action on 5 occasions.

At the moment, the footballer will miss the matches against Real Valladolid and Cádiz for La Liga. For the Copa del Rey he would miss the first leg against Barça and also the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals with Chelsea.
