This Friday the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, will ask Xi Jinping not to supply Russia with military weapons to continue with the invasion of Ukraine. The European president said that within this conversation the consequences that China could suffer if Beijing is willing to collaborate with the war in favor of the Russians will be put on the table.
Macron said on his next visit to the Asian giant he will discuss the 12-step plan proposed by Chinese diplomacy to find a peaceful solution to the war. The proposal has been viewed favorably by Ukraine and even the Kremlin sees it as viable for it to be used in the future to end hostilities.
According to Macron’s presidential agenda, next Wednesday he will be arriving in China to meet with Xi Jinping to resume the relationship between the two countries, which was paralyzed by the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, he will be accompanied on this three-day trip by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen with the aim of finding a way to “end the war”.
So far, China is silent on a possible meeting between Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski and Xi Jinping after the visit to Moscow in mid-March. So far, the presidents of China and Ukraine have not held a meeting to discuss the 12 steps for peace, which was proposed to end the hostilities caused by the invasion of Russia.
Since last February there has been an expectation that the two leaders will hold a meeting to discuss the peace agreement that has been viewed with interest by kyiv and Moscow. However, there is still no date or estimate for this possible meeting.
