MIAMI – Police detained three people in connection with the beating that 26-year-old New York rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine received in the bathrooms of a South Florida gym, where nearly two weeks ago he was ejected from a World Baseball Classic game. .
Local media reported this Friday the arrest by the Police of three individuals, identified thanks to the disclosure on social networks of a video in which it is observed how Daniel Hernández, the artist’s real name, is violently beaten on the floor.
Police arrested three men identified as Rafael Medina (43 years old), Octavious Medina (23) and Anthony Maldonado (25), who face charges of assault and robbery.
The suspects remain in custody today at a Palm Beach County jail in southeast Florida.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the incident took place on the night of the 21st at the LA Fitness gym, located in the town of Lake Worth.
Some media pointed out that the attack could be related to the artist’s alleged enmity with members of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods gang.
The rapper’s lawyer, Lance Lazzaro, told TMZ about the incident that several men attacked his client while he was inside the gym facilities and that the artist was unable to defend himself.
The rapper, who was taken to a hospital by ambulance with cuts, a jaw injury and blows to his ribs and back, showed through social networks how his face was left by the beating.
This incident is in addition to another that occurred recently during the World Baseball Classic game between Mexico and Puerto Rico, from which he was expelled for blocking the vision of other spectators, according to some media, allegedly impaired by alcohol intake.
The artist made headlines last February after a person impersonated him, which caused a human stampede in front of the Havana hotel where he was staying, as confirmed by the Cuban Ministry of Tourism (Mintur), which clarified that the events that occurred were not linked to the artist.
