After leaving the pits to go around the start, the Checo had a problem that led him to continue long in the third corner and then he was stopped by the gravel, which is why he will start in box number 20 for the race. Sunday.
“We had a little technical problem in FP3 and we thought we had it fixed, but obviously we didn’t. It was very difficult to save the situation, I became a passenger as soon as I touched the brake”, were the words of Pérez after the mishap.
The leader of Red Bull, Christian Horner, spoke about it indicating that it is probably a failure in the brakes that they hope to have resolved for the race in Australia.
“It’s something that is throwing the brakes off balance quite a bit under braking and I just hope we can fix it tomorrow so we can race and minimize the damage. I totally trust my team and I know that we will be able to overcome this problem to have a strong race pace”, Pérez concluded.
Starting from a far box is not something strange for Redl Bull, and it is that in the race in Saudi Arabia Max Verstappen had a situation similar to that of Checo and ended up starting from the 15th box, and even so he was able to recover until he could fight for first place with his teammate.
