Ricky Martín was in charge of delivering a very special recognition to Bad Bunny at the GLAAD (The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) ceremony for the contribution he has given through his art to the LGBTQ+ community.

After having given the award to the Puerto Rican artist, Ricky Martín published a few words on his Instagram account and assured that he thought his career would be at risk after making the decision to tell the world about his sexual preferences through a moving letter that saw light in the year 2010.

“Last night we showed our love and appreciation for Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, the pride of Puerto Rico, also known as Bad Bunny. I am in awe of him as an artist and as an ally to the LGBTQ community. When I came out in 2010, I thought it might end my career. But it was worth the risk, because I had to live calmly and fully”, said the interpreter of ‘Livin la vida loca’.

That letter published 13 years ago caused millions of reactions around the world. Ricky Martín in that text confessed a secret that accompanied him for years.

“Today for me the meaning of happiness takes on another dimension. It has been a very intense, anguishing and painful process, but also a liberating one. I swear that every word you are reading here is born of love, purification, strength, acceptance and detachment. That writing these lines is the approach to my inner peace, a vital part of my evolution. Today I ACCEPT MY GAY as a gift that life gives me. I feel blessed to be who I am!” she expressed.

Bad Bunny’s words

Bad Bunny also manifested himself after this recognition he received from GLAAD. “I think that following my heart is what has led me to where I am, it is what has led me to be here receiving this award surrounded by so many beautiful people. When you have a good heart and when you give love, that’s what you get back”, said the ‘bad rabbit’ from the stage.
