After a solid start with a victory on the Opening Day of the Major Leagues, the New York Yankees had their first setback of the season this Saturday when they fell 7-5 against the San Francisco Giants.
Although the Yankees took an early lead through Aaron Judge’s run and Giancarlo Stanton’s solo home run in the third inning, a fateful fourth inning ended the Mules’ hopes.
Given the shipments of the starter and defeated Clarke Schmidt, San Francisco was able to go on to lead the slate 3-2 thanks to back-to-back home runs by Joc Pederson and Brandon Crawford.
The problem increased in the sixth inning when a pair of scores by David Villar and again Crawford put a difference of two runs that in the end would be overcome despite the home run in the 8th inning by Josh Donaldson for the Bronx.
The poor work of the Yankees closer, Clay Holmes, who allowed two more runs in the ninth inning, ended up knocking down the aspirations of the Yankees, who left three on base and in the closing of the inning with Stanton at bat.
In this way, the Yankees waste the opportunity to get a perfect series and their record becomes one win and one loss in their first two games.
