The Mexican Sergio “Checo” Pérez was able to turn around his initial situation at the Australian Grand Prix where he started in 20th place and finished in fifth place.
Perez had a brake failure during the first lap of Qualifying. In turn 3 of the circuit he continued in a straight line, being stopped by the gravel.
But the Mexican put his all into it and in addition to giving his team the points for fifth place, he managed to score another for the fastest lap of the race held at the Albert Park Circuit.
Max Verstappen for his part, had a difficult start. After starting in first place, he found himself overtaken by Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) for several laps, although he knew how to remedy it to stay on top of the podium.
Hamilton entered the podium for the first time in the season (2), while the Spanish Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One™ Team) reaffirmed his good moment by gaining a place in the Classification to close the Top 3 in which It should be noted, he has entered the 3 races of 2023.
The next Formula 1 race is scheduled for Sunday, April 30, in what will be the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen leads the Drivers’ Championship table with 69 points, followed by Checo Pérez who accumulates 54. Fernando Alonso is hot on their heels with 45, while Lewis Hamilton and Carlos Sainz Jr. have 38 and 80 respectively.
