could-i-lose-it-all?-what-would-be-the-sanction-that-fernando-hernandez-will-receive-for-the-knee-he-gave-a-player-from-leon?

Mexican soccer experienced a rather unfortunate moment after registering an unacceptable physical attack by referee Fernando Hernández, who kneed one of the Esmeraldas de León players in his private parts.

This fact has become one of the most important controversies in recent years within the MX League, because it violated all the statutes set by a whistler on the playing field. Now Hernández faces a possible 15-game suspension and even the withdrawal of his license as a referee.

The regulation of sanctions of the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) stipulates in its article 30 all the infractions incurred by the arbitration body in its subsection G, where they detail the following:

“Incurring in any type of violent conduct with the players, members of the technical bodies, officials, with the personnel authorized to remain on the pitch and/or with the public. 1 to 15 suspension games”, says the document.

This sanction is also added to a quite significant economic fine, which can range from $170 dollars to $2,900 dollars.

‘Kurro’ Hernández apologizes

The referee decided to apologize to Lucas Romero and all the Aztec football fans for the act he committed in the match corresponding to Round 13 of the Clausura 2023 tournament of Liga MX against the Águilas of Club América.

The whistler emphasized that it was not his intention and he greatly regrets what happened.

“To the fans and the public in general, I offer an apology, as well as Lucas Romero, for my reaction yesterday; I would never attack him, as well as any other player. Aware of this, I will abide by the resolution that the Disciplinary Commission takes accordingly, ”he said.
