Former President Donald Trump will deliver a statement at his Mar-a-Lago, Florida, mansion on Tuesday, the day he is expected to appear before a judge who will read the charges against him in New York.
The New York tycoon published a call to the media on Sunday detailing that he will deliver a speech at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday at 8:15 p.m.
The statement does not detail what issues Trump will speak about in Florida or whether the statement will take place upon his return from New York, where that day some media indicate that he has an appointment with the judge scheduled at 2:15 in the afternoon.
The view in New York, some media point out, would have generated enormous expectations and for this reason the court would have canceled other less important ones to prevent the movement of people on foot in the building for security reasons.
A Manhattan grand jury announced that the former Republican president will have to answer to justice in the case of illegal payments allegedly made to porn actress Stormy Daniels in 2016 so that she would not talk about a relationship they would have had some ten years earlier.
Trump’s call to the press coincides with the publication of a statement in which he reveals a survey that favors his electoral interests, after months ago he announced his intention to compete for the Republican Party’s nomination.
The poll highlights that he had a significant lead over his opponents in the Republican primary, while also holding over Joe Biden.
Out of 14 possible Republican primary candidates, Trump leads with 51% of the vote, followed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis with 21%, former Vice President Mike Pence with 6% and Nikki Haley with 4%, while all others have 2% or less.
In a poll conducted by his organization last January, Trump led with 43%, followed by DeSantis with 31%, so Trump’s advantage has gone from 12 points to 30 points.
The poll, based on a sample of 1,000 likely voters for the 2024 general election and conducted on behalf of Donald Trump’s campaign for president, was completed over a two-day period on March 31 and April 1.
The poll was conducted after media reports that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg planned to indict former President Trump.
According to a Fox News poll last Thursday, Trump leads the second best placed for the Republican nomination, DeSantis, by 30 points, with 54% of the vote compared to 24%.
Trump is the first former president charged with criminal offenses in the country’s history.
