This Monday, April 3, FC Barcelona surprised Spain and the world of football by issuing a statement calling for the resignation of the president of La Liga, Javier Tebas, after La Vanguardia published a publication suggesting that the latter provided false evidence to the prosecution to harm the club in the “Negreira Case”.
“We urgently require the president of LaLiga to appear publicly to offer explanations, beyond the tweet sent at dawn by Mr. Tebas, fleeing from the studio and with a threatening patina,” said the club after Tebas branded as “false” the information from La Vanguardia.
Barcelona defended the argument of its president Joan Laporta, which suggests that the club is “being the victim of a media lynching for events that have not occurred”, while insisting that “Barça has never bought referees”.
But the thick part came at the end of the statement when Barcelona pointed out that Tebas “takes powers that do not correspond to it.” “Out of dignity and respect for the LaLiga presidency, Mr. Tebas should resign from his role. However, aware of his obsession with persecuting FC Barcelona and constantly showing his dislike and manifest antipathy towards our Club.
FC Barcelona said goodbye regretting what in his opinion is a “behavior that harms the club” on the part of Thebes.
Minutes after the publication of the Catalans, Javier Tebas defended himself by asking La Vanguardia for his right to rectify.
