Despite having started from the 20th position in the Australian Grand Prix, the Mexican Sergio “Checo” Pérez was able to turn the tide and finished in 5th place. Now, the Red Bull driver will have a new opportunity in what will be the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
On April 30, the street circuit of Baku, Azerbaijan, will receive the fourth race of the 2023 Formula 1 season, a territory known by the Czech and in which, unlike other scenarios, he will arrive with great possibilities of surpassing his teammate and drivers’ championship leader, Max Vertappen.
How did Checo Pérez do at the Azerbaijan GP?
Checo’s journey in Azerbaijan began in 2018 when he was a driver for the Sahara Force India F1 Team and culminated in a good way by taking third place on the podium.
For 2019 with Racing Point F1 Team he finished in sixth place. Immediately afterwards, in 2021 and in what was his first season with Red Bull Racing he managed to win the Azerbaijan GP.
Thus, the closest precedent is from 2022, the date he achieved second place in a race that preceded his victory at the Monaco GP.
