An 11-year-old New Jersey high school student committed suicide in the bathroom at her FW Holbein school in New Jersey, where she faced a bullying issue that went unaddressed by school authorities.

Several local media outlets indicated that Felicia LoAlbo-Melendez was also facing depression over the loss of her father, a NJ Transit police detective, who died of cancer.

The death of the minor occurred on February 6, at the FW Holbein School, in Burlington County, but only the details come to light.

Since the death of her daughter, Elaina LoAlbo has claimed that the school did not address the problem of bullying against her daughter, she even sent emails to school administrators, but they have ignored her, the Daily Voice portal reported.

“The school administration did not listen the first 50 times. Maybe now they are ready to listen to us,” LoAlbo said. “This bullying must stop. There must be consequences for their actions.”

The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the 11-year-old girl was found by another student, who saw her unconscious in the bathroom.

Although school personnel applied first aid protocol, the girl did not respond, but was taken by ambulance to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she was pronounced dead on Wednesday, February 8.

“An autopsy conducted by the Philadelphia Office of the Medical Examiner found the manner of death to be suicide, and the cause of death was determined to be complications from his attempted suicide,” the report states.

There is no precision on how the prosecutors will act on the investigation, nor if the mother will sue the school.
