Reese Witherspoon began filing for divorce from Jim Toth, following rumors of an affair with former quarterback Tom Brady.
A report from ET Entertainment indicates that the actress and film producer visited her lawyer’s office in Nashville last Friday on the occasion of a divorce petition that she filed since March 30.
The document obtained by the US portal indicates that the ex-partner had a pre-nuptial agreement, which would be respected by the famous. In the same way, the issue of custody of her 10-year-old son is exposed, which will continue to be for both parties.
“The wife would demonstrate that both parties should be appointed as joint custodians of the minor,” the outlet quotes.
On March 24, two days before their anniversary, the couple announced their separation in a statement, where they asked for respect and privacy for the events.
“We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and we are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for all that we have created together. Our highest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter.”
The formal request for divorce, after 12 years of marriage, arises after rumors on social networks about the beginning of a new love between Reese and Tom Brady.

The scandal broke out after the athlete concluded his divorce with the model Gisele Bündchen.
