The Mexican driver Sergio “Checo” Pérez continues with a view to conquering the Formula 1 World Championship and this Wednesday he declared his expectation for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, in the resumption of the competition after a month of inactivity.
According to Checo Pérez’s statements, aiming for victory is his main goal and especially if where he will compete is in the urban circuit of Baku, where he already knew victory in 2021.
“We had a great result in Baku as a team last year,” said Checo, referring to the double he signed with Verstappen, winner of that race.
“I love street circuits and the goal is always to win,” he added.
Later he spoke about what the start of the season has been both personally and for the Red Bull team and his teammate Verstappen.
“Australia was not perfect for us; having a car with consistent performance is my goal this season. In the first two races of the year we did have those conditions and now, as a team, we must make sure that this is the pattern to be maintained during the rest of the races of the year”, pointed out the Mexican driver before leaving for Azerbaijan, where, apart from from his 2020 triumph -the first of the four he achieved for Red Bull-, he has climbed the podium three more times.
“We have five races in six weeks and after that, with the variety of circuits we visit, we will really know how good the RB19 can be this year.”
The Azerbaijan Grand Prix will bring back action in Formula 1, which after the Australian Grand Prix went into a month-long hiatus for all drivers and teams.
