new-york-knicks-eliminate-cleveland-cavaliers-and-reach-their-first-nba-conference-semifinal-since-2013

The New York Knicks continue to stomp in the NBA and this Wednesday they hit the table by eliminating the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the NBA playoffs, beating them 106-95 in a match that had the only negative news being the injury to Julian Randle, star of the New Yorkers.

The Knicks were able to close a series (4-1) that they already had in favor despite the fact that on paper they were not favorites, due to their classification as fifth in the East while those of Cleveland were fourth.

Throughout the tie, New York was far superior to some Cavaliers who could not exploit the home court factor in their favor and who closed their first playoffs with Donovan Mitchell in a disappointing way.

The Knicks’ classification came by collective merit after six players led by Tom Thibodeau exceeded 10 points, with Jalen Brunson (23 points) and RJ Barrett (21 points) as top scorers.

However, the news that caused concern was the injury to Randle, who with just over a minute to go tried to block a shot from Caris LeVert and sprained his left ankle when he fell on the foot of the Cleveland player.

After being treated on the field by the medical staff, Randle went straight to the locker room with visible discomfort and did not return to the court.

This is the first time the Knicks have won a playoff tie since 2013, when they lost to the Indiana Pacers in the conference semifinals.
