Minnesota Timberwolves NBA star Anthony Edwards is currently under investigation by the Denver Police after allegedly assaulting two workers last Tuesday after being eliminated by the Denver Nuggets in the playoffs.
According to information from the Denver Sports newspaper, after confirming the defeat against those commanded by Nikola Jokic, Edwards started on his way to the locker room and to vent his frustration he took a folding chair and shook it without realizing that in doing so he hit a security guard and a local stadium worker.
The employees were not seriously injured but Edwards, as explained by the ESPN chain, will have to go to a Denver court on June 9 to answer for a minor offense of assault in the third degree, which can carry a fine of $1,000 dollars up to 18 months in jail.
The Timberwolves reacted to this news about Edwards without giving further details about what happened.
“We are aware of the alleged incident involving Anthony Edwards after Game 5 in Denver and are in the process of gathering more information. We have no further comment at this time,” the Minnesota franchise said in a statement.
Edwards (29 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists) was the top scorer for the Wolves who said goodbye to the playoffs on Tuesday after being eliminated in Denver (112-109).
The young Wolves talent missed a three-pointer at the buzzer to have forced overtime.
