A 13-year-old girl was arrested for allegedly attacking a firefighter with a knife in the city of Gastonia, located in the state of North Carolina. According to Fox News, the young woman also tried to assault police officers.
The information released by the Gastonia Police Department stated that the arrest took place last Tuesday night, when the 13-year-old girl used a knife to attack a firefighter from the Gastonia Fire Department. Said official was treated, but only received minor injuries.
The event occurred at approximately 9:00 pm last Tuesday. According to information from Fox News, police officers went to 3200 Pikes Peak Drive after receiving an alert indicating that one of the firefighters had been assaulted by a young man armed with a knife.
The police forces saw how the firefighters tried to contain the young woman, who had a combative behavior at the time.
The 13-year-old girl, so far, has not been identified. But she did know the charges against her: aggravated assault, as well as other charges related to assault, for which she will be held in the juvenile detention center in Concord.
Previously, the young woman was taken to a medical center to evaluate if she had had any cuts or if she had any type of psychological condition that should be treated.
However, a question remains: it is not entirely clear why the Gastonia firefighters went to that address before the attack occurred.
Depending on the charges, minors can be tried as adults, although this depends on the severity of the incidents in which they were involved.
