Brandon Jones, a US Army Electrical Mechanical Engineer from North Carolina, got the surprise of his life when he won a grand prize of $150,000 with an instant lottery ticket.
“At first you don’t believe it. It’s like a big jolt in your body, like adrenaline. Very cool,” Jones, 21, said Monday as he arrived at lottery headquarters in the city of Raleigh to claim his prize.
His prize was won with a Super Lottery game ticket that cost him only $5 dollars and that he bought at the Home Run Market store, located on Statesville Boulevard in the city of Salisbury.
The young man said he planned to save his winnings and at some point in the future use the money to buy or build a house.
After paying federal and state taxes, he received $106,876.
“I appreciate it,” Jones said after receiving his big check.
