The footballer and current figure of Roma in Italy, Paulo Dybala, has become one of the most important figures in world football after his successful spell at Juventus in Turin, a team with which he won a huge number of titles. However, he recently revealed that he hated Cristiano Ronaldo a lot before he met him.
During a recent interview for DAZN, Dybala explained that he always had star Lionel Messi as a role model and that the rivalry that existed between the two players for being part of FC Barcelona and Real Madrid made him take a strong hatred against the Portuguese star. Despite this, the Argentine explained that everything changed after meeting him.
“In Argentina the rivalry between Messi and Cristiano is deeply felt, obviously as a child I have always been on Messi’s side”, highlighted the attacker.
During this conversation he recalled a moment he lived after Cristiano’s arrival at Juventus at the start of the 2017-18 season. During one of the meetings that Dybala had, he confessed to him the anger that he had with him as a child, something that the Lusitanian found quite amusing.
“Once we were going to play a game, I was in the back of the plane and he was sitting in the front. At one point during the flight he approached me to talk about soccer and many other things, we talked about our life in general and at one point I told him ‘I practically hated you as a child’. We laughed about this and we have always had a good relationship with each other, a good dialogue, ”he assured.
Finally, Dybala maintained that after this meeting he began to see his new partner in a different way and they became very good friends.
“They were three good years with Cristiano, the team was very strong and he gave us something else. On a personal level I was surprised for good. As a person he is an excellent guy, very sociable, very friendly in and out of the locker room. Always willing to talk and to listen too. That surprised me, being such an important figure, many times they are not like that, ”he concluded.
