This Thursday the Ukrainian troops are already beginning to show signs of the counteroffensive in the south of the country, in which Kiev has the goal of recovering all the territories invaded by Moscow and the recovery of sovereignty over the peninsular territory of Crimea. According to Ukrainian spokesmen, attacks on the logistics of the Russian forces have already begun on the banks of the Dnieper river, a strategy that already worked for them last fall in Kherson.
The spokeswoman for the Southern Command of the Ukrainian Army, Nataliya Humeniuk, affirmed that the counteroffensive is already advancing slowly, with small but sure steps. Humeniuk assured that the Ukrainian forces interfere with the combat capabilities of the enemy, destroying their ammunition depots and the concentration points of military personnel.
That would be an important factor, since the head of the Wagner mercenary group, Yevgueni Prigozhin, once again denounced the lack of supplies for his paramilitary formation, a situation that will become more serious before the “inevitable” Kiev counteroffensive. Although it is not the first time that Prigozhin has denounced the development of the Ukrainian War.
Last Wednesday, the British Intelligence agency indicated in a report published on Tuesday that, judging by the decrease in the number of casualties on the battlefield in Ukraine, Russia’s troops have probably gone on the defensive, organizing their rear and defense close to the Crimean region. Given this, the Ukrainians seem to accelerate their efforts to start their counteroffensive.
Zelensky gave a warning
When Kiev confirmed preparations for the counteroffensive, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that all temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories will be liberated, including his promise to liberate the Crimean peninsula. If they do not withdraw,” the Ukrainian leader warned the Russian troops.
Despite the Ukrainian preparations for the Crimean campaign, the pro-Russian governor of the Crimean peninsula, Sergei Aksionov, stated that all measures have been taken to deal with the counter-offensive by the Ukrainian forces.
Even so, the head of the Russian Wagner paramilitary group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, predicted that the Ukrainian counteroffensive will begin as soon as Russian forces take Bakhmut. “As soon as we finish taking Bakhmut, as soon as we drive out the last soldier or kill him in Bakhmut, that same day the Ukrainian counter-offensive will begin,” the leader said.’
