A Ukrainian army drone captured images of several explosions at a Russian-occupied building in Bakhmut, which was shared by an agent from the Foreign Policy Research Institute.
After months of Russian efforts to seize the town of Bakhmut, the site remains a crucial battlefield on the war front ahead of a planned Ukrainian counteroffensive.
The fighting for the city continues to escalate, even as Russia has seen heavy loss of its troops. However, the Ukrainians refuse to withdraw and are using American technology in their attacks against the Russian forces.
“Video of a possible JDAM attack on Bakhmut filmed by a UAV of the Ukrainian 77th Airmobile Brigade,” Rob Lee of the Foreign Policy Research Institute tweeted:
In the video, footage from a Ukrainian surveillance drone shows four bombs hitting the building in Bakhmut.
It should be recalled that since March, the Ukrainian military began using US-made Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAM) with its bombs.
The Ukrainians are using their limited supply of JDAM to fire on Russian troops without experiencing close combat. Normal bombs are equipped with GPS-guided JDAMs.
The Ukrainian military has received a limited number of JDAMs and JDAM-ER, an extended-range version of JDAM, from the United States.
Last December, Ukraine received an undisclosed amount of “precision aerial munitions” later identified as JDAM as part of a $1.85 billion US military aid package.
