A California lottery player won $5 million on a Scratch-Off ticket after following the suggestion of an employee of the business where he purchased the ticket.
Alec Bucur was recently at a Chevron gas station in Irvine and a “Millionaire Bucks Scratchers” card caught his eye.
The client decided to inquire with the business worker about the winning history of the game, whose jackpot is $5 million.
“I wanted to know how much money was obtained with the last winning ticket that was sold and what number it was in the pile of scratch-offs,” the man told Lottery officials.
“I found out that someone won $500 in the stack, and it was ticket number five,” he recalled.
Armed with the information, the player decided that he would buy that ticket the next time the store had the fifth ticket in the stack available.
One afternoon after dinner, he bought the ticket. In scraping the first two lines in his house, there was no profit; but in the middle of row number three, were the seven digits of the jackpot.
“Number five in the series was worth $5 million dollars,” Bucur said. “I was just looking for that and now I’m a billionaire,” added the lucky man.
The winner plans to save part of the money.
“I don’t need a Ferrari. I don’t need a mansion. I’m not a spender. I am going to travel a little and let the money grow, ”she anticipated.
The Chevron store, located at 5425 Alton Parkway, will receive a $25,000 commission for selling the ticket.
