In the middle of the series that the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants will play in Mexico City, the Dominican Manny Machado, third baseman of the ‘Frailes’, asked the MLB to also schedule games in his native Dominican Republic and in other Latin American countries.

During a meeting with the media after having participated in a children’s baseball clinic, Machado recalled that this is not the first time that Major League Baseball games have been held in Mexico and although he acknowledged that he likes the initiative, he recalled that other countries Latinos also deserve to enjoy the show.

“I would like more regular season games to be played in the Dominican Republic and all Latin countries. This is a start. It’s been a couple of years since they’ve been done in Mexico, but it would be important if we could do it in the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Venezuela,” he said.

In this sense, the third baseman of the San Diego team made an interesting proposal to the MLB, allowing there to be a Major League Baseball franchise in a Latin country. “I don’t know if it’s possible to have an MLB franchise in Latin America, but to have it would be special,” he said.

Lastly, he referred to the series between Padres and Gigantes, letting it be known that he is excited and that he is confident that he will be able to take advantage of the Alfredo Harp Helú Stadium and hit some home runs.

“The game is going to be special. We have to win. You have to hit a lot of home runs because of the altitude. The stadium looks beautiful, what excites me is that the ball is going to walk ”, he declared.

Manny Machado, who just signed a 10-year, $350 million contract extension with the Padres, is having a low-key season posting a .225 average with two home runs, eight RBIs, eight runs scored and an OPS of . .583.
