A married couple from the city of Nicholasville, in the state of Kentucky, celebrated their anniversary with an unexpected surprise. And it turned out that they hit the jackpot playing the lottery, taking a prize of $109,000 dollars.
The couple, made up of Diane and Charlie Laue, commemorated their 44th wedding anniversary, they said at the Kentucky Lottery headquarters, where they went to collect the prize they won with the Instant Play game.
According to Kentucky Lottery representatives, Diane purchased her tickets for this week’s Powerball and Mega Millions drawings on her computer last Friday.
At that time, he also decided to bet $5 three times on the Celtic Coins Jackpot Instant Play game.
In her third entry into the game, Diane won the top prize of $109,707.
“She was screaming like a banshee from the house,” her husband Charlie told lottery officials, according to the Wave portal.
“I was yelling at him to come here. I didn’t want to touch the screen,” Diane said.
The couple was ultimately left with $78,440.5, after paying the required taxes.
“We are just a retired couple looking to travel. “It’s a godsend,” Diane said.
Now, they plan to use their new fortune to travel to Hawaii and Paris.
