thalia-gets-nostalgic-and-shares-the-“soundtrack”-of-her-life

Before she was the queen of soap operas or an international-class pop singer, Thalía was one of the many young women who dreamed of fame from her room, while listening to the songs of her favorite artists that she had recorded on cassettes.

And with the plan to relive those times a bit, and share them with her children and the rest of generation Z, the Mexican put together some songs by the most outstanding artists of the golden age of rock in Spanish, such as Soda Stereo, Hombres G , Aterciopelados, Enanitos Verdes, Maldita Vecindad, Maná and La Mosca Tsé-Tsé, among others, to create the docu-series “Mixtape: The Soundtrack of My Life” and the album “Thalia’s Mixtape”.

“In this series I show the songs that influenced my path, that shaped my self-esteem to be me,” he says about the inspiration for the project. “I am fortunate to be able to share in these episodes with the royalty of rock in Spanish.”

“It is a fan project. I am not Thalía but Ariadna (her first name of hers) the teenager, contacting her heroes and thanking them face to face for everything they did for me, ”says the Mexican./Photo: Enrique Vega

In the first of the three episodes that make up the series, to premiere on May 2 exclusively on Paramount +, Thalía shares with Charly Alberti, drummer for Soda Stereo, with whom she also reinterpreted the classic “Persiana Americana.” The Mexican jumped with emotion and she showed herself as one more fan of the prominent Argentine musician.

“It was as if he had stepped off the Soda Stereo (Charly) poster. He stood in front of me with those blue eyes and suddenly he says to me ‘here are the boys, let’s play’, let’s play!, I told him”, he recalls the experience.

Thalia, the fanatic

He says that his excitement began when he contacted the invited artists, then when he presented the idea to them, which he says was a bridge between that powerful generation of musicians and generation Z; until they said yes and then meet them the day of the recording.

“It is a fan project. I am not Thalía but Ariadna (her first name of hers) the teenager, contacting her heroes and thanking them face to face for everything they did for me. It is made by a fan for the fans of this genre, ”she emphasizes.

The series, made in collaboration with Paramount+, MTV and Sony Music Latin with the executive production of Thalía and Tommy Motola, has three episodes: “Vinyl, Cassettes and Rock in Spanish”, with Charly Alberti and Rocco Pachukote from Maldita Vecindad; “Burning Tires and CDs,” with David Summers of the Hombres G y Kenia Os; and “From Mixtapes to Playlists: The Digital Revolution”, in which Thalía interprets “La Muralla Verde” by Enanitos Verdes with the young artists Bruses and Ben Carrillo and covers “Florecita Rockera” by Aterciopelados with Leon Leiden.

“It’s an incredible ride and I wanted to make it familiar, thinking of my children and this new generation that has everything at their fingertips. In a digestible, fun and attractive way, we make them understand about the development of music, from the gramophone to artificial intelligence ”, he explains.

Regarding the album Thalia’s Mixtape, produced by Aureo Baqueiro and Rafael Arcaute and which is released today not only in digital format but also on cassette, vinyl and CD, he explains that it has 10 songs plus a bonus track, which is a mix of several of his Favorite songs by artists such as Miguel Mateo, Charlie García, Toreros Muertos and Amantes de Lola.

“My Mixtape is a vein of nostalgia, not only for my generation but also for generation Z who are in love with the 80s,” he concludes.
