Ángel Roque, a 36-year-old man, was arrested yesterday on suspicion of suffocating a 68-year-old woman before dragging her to a garage and sexually assaulting her on a street in the Bronx (NYC).
The police had published a photo and video of him on Tuesday, in search of his whereabouts and he was recognized by witnesses on the street, reported New York Post.
According to authorities, the suspect approached the victim from behind around 6 am on Saturday, April 22 near East 189th Street and Webster Avenue in Fordham Heights. He then strangled the old woman, forced her into a garage, and attempted to remove her clothing, but was unable to do so.
He then forced her to perform oral sex on him before fleeing, heading south on 3rd Avenue. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for his injuries.
Roque was charged with attempted rape, criminal sexual act, sexual assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, and stalking. The detainee lives a few blocks from the scene and had no prior arrests, according to police.
All charges are mere accusations and those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
