The Mexican Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez continues to demonstrate his good moment in the 2023 Formula 1 season and this Saturday he opened the “Sprint Shootout” with a victory against Charles Leclerc (2nd) and his teammate at Red Bull, Max Verstappen (3rd).
In this way, Checo Pérez has kept the 8 points awarded for having finished in first place in the new test, therefore, considering that Verstappen also added units, the Mexican shortened the difference from 15 to 13 points with respect to the Leader of the Drivers’ Championship.
“It has been good, after some sessions that have been complicated. Coming out with the greatest number of podiums was the goal, but the big race is tomorrow,” said the driver from Guadalajara, who has just won the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
It should be remembered that after Friday’s Qualifying, the first three places on the starting grid were as follows: Charles Leclerc (1st), Max Verstapppen (2nd) and ‘Checo’ Pérez (3rd).
