A Hispanic man interrupted his appointment with a woman in Houston, Texas, to confront a parking space attendant whom he ended up killing, then returned to complete the encounter.

Erick Aguirre, 29, faces murder charges in the April 11 incident that killed Elliot Nix, 46.

Nix allegedly posed as a parking attendant to collect $40 from Aguirre, which led to Aguirre fatally shooting him.

When he returned to the burger joint they had arrived at, Aguirre allegedly told his date that everything was fine and that he had only scared the man. However, although they walked towards a table, they ended up leaving the place as the man was feeling uncomfortable.

Two days later, the woman contacted the authorities when she saw images from security cameras in which she appeared with Aguirre in the establishment.

“She wanted to do the right thing. She wanted to make sure that she came forward to police and told them what she knew,” her attorney Rick DeToto told KPRC.

The information handled by the investigators indicates that Aguirre and the woman parked their vehicles near a restaurant in downtown Houston when Nix approached them and told them they had to pay $20 for each car. Aguirre paid the entire fee thinking that he was a legitimate space worker.

However, a restaurant employee informed them that Nix did not work in the parking space and that he had misled them.

A worker at a nearby cigar store told police that he saw Aguirre go back to his car, grab a gun and look for Nix. The witness claimed that he lost sight of both men, but heard a shot before 8 pm He then spotted Aguirre walking nonchalantly back to his Cadillac with his gun drawn. He then returned to the restaurant where his date was waiting for him.

Nix was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Aguirre, who resides near Corpus Christi, was arrested earlier this week. Until Thursday he remained jailed. The defendant was set on $200,000 bail.
