Rosalía gave a concert in the Zócalo in Mexico City. However, many are talking about the electoral controversy that covered the event. Although beyond these circumstances, the Spanish was grateful to her audience and for this reason she said: “This city is beautiful, I am happy to sing to you, to be here. I feel really, really grateful.”
Rosalía, also known as “Motomami” for the title of her most recent album, also recalled that Mexico is one of the countries where she has had the most loyal followers since the beginning of her career.
“Mexico, I want you to know that I am very grateful for the love you have given me since the beginning of my career. And that you know that there is a lot of inspiration for many years, I studied songs like “La llorona”. Let’s see if I get the tone…”, said the singer of songs like “Con Altura” or “Bizcochito”, before singing this song, so traditional in Mexico.
Despite the expectation that one of the most acclaimed Spanish-speaking singers of today has caused, the concert has been surrounded by political controversies, since the head of Government of the capital, Claudia Sheinbaum, was accused by the opposition of “spending” more than a million dollars and use the event for electoral purposes.
However, the promoter Ocesa issued a statement on Thursday explaining that Rosalía will offer the concert “without any type of economic benefit.”
The Zócalo square – where the National Palace, residence of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador is located – was completely full and some had to stay outside the square and watch the concert from one of the multiple screens placed in the surrounding streets.
“Mexico, look, this square was already pretty, but with all of you here, I’m afraid of falling in love,” he confessed.
Dressed in a black jumpsuit, a red bra and boots of the same color, she performed for just over an hour and a quarter in a “show” very similar to those previously offered at the National Auditorium in the Mexican capital and less than a month ago at the AX Ceremony festival, also held in Mexico City.
Feeding the comments that arose on social networks after her last visit to Mexico for her request for aguachile recipes, Rosalía said that they were getting hungry from dancing so much.
“Let’s see if I eat some taquitos, or an aguachile. You sent me so many recipes that I couldn’t choose just one, I ended up making a mix and I don’t know how it turned out. I won’t give up, I’m going to perfect it and hopefully I’ll learn to make it as tasty as the one I tried here”, shared the Spaniard.
Finally, she thanked the people who were camping in the area to be able to see her in the front row and dedicated “Kiss” to them, a song she sings with her fiancé, the also singer Rauw Alejandro, and with the expectation that the Puerto Rican would come out to sing it, although it was not like that.
The highest number of a concert of these characteristics in the Zócalo was recorded by the popular Grupo Firme last September with nearly 280,000 spectators, more than what was achieved by figures such as Paul McCartney, Silvio Rodríguez, Joan Manuel Serrat, Roger Waters or Manu Chao. .
According to figures provided by the Ministry of the Interior of Mexico City, an attendance of 160,000 people was registered.
