San Diego Padres Aruban Xander Bogaerts became the first Major League Baseball player to hit home runs in four different countries during official organized baseball games on Saturday.

As part of Major League Baseball’s attempt to give baseball greater visibility in the world, in recent years they have taken regular season games to countries like England or Mexico and that is precisely where Bogaerts has not missed the opportunity to be a protagonist.

During the match between the Padres and the Giants corresponding to the Mexico City Series that is being held at the Alfredo Harp Helú Stadium in Mexico City, Bogaerts made history by hitting one of the 11 home runs that were hit between the two teams, in the match that later those from San Diego defeated those from Bahía 16-11.

With the home run in Mexico, Bogaerts hit a four-corner drive in the United States, Canada and England.

In addition to living in the United States, Bogaerts has accumulated five home runs in his Major League career against the Toronto Blue Jays at the Rogers Center in Canada, while on June 30, 2019, during the London Series, he also took the ball out of the park during the game between the Boston Red Sox, his previous team, against the shipments of Stephen Tarpley of the New York Yankees.

With the home run, Bogaerts reached six so far this season and will remain in Mexico until this Sunday, when the second game of the series is played.
