The Mexican Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez has hit the table at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix and has won the victory ahead of his Dutch teammate Max Verstappen (2nd) and the Ferrari driver, Charles Leclerc, who completed the podium (3rd).

Checo Pérez has achieved a victory with which he has not only swept the weekend after winning the new “Sprint Shootout” on Saturday, implemented for this weekend, as he has also broken a series of his own records, including having won the same Grand Prix twice after being on the top of the Azerbaijan GP podium in 2021.

The race began with the Mexican in third place, while Verstappen started second and Leclerc first after winning Pole. But Pérez went from less to more and with 10 laps to go he dominated the Baku Street Circuit with pleasure.

“We both touched the wall. He was pushing me and I was pushing him. And I had some luck, obviously, with the moment the safety car entered the track, ”said the Mexican regarding the duel he starred in with Verstappen.

“We stayed on the DRS train; and we had better degradation in the first round, in which things were already looking good. Then the ‘safety car’ (safety car) came out and it was another race, with hard tires”, concluded Checo.

In this way, Checo Pérez has achieved his sixth victory in Formula 1 after winning: Bahrain 2021, Azerbaijan 2021, Monaco 2022, Singapore 2022, Australia 2023 and now Azerbaijan 2023.

With the 1-2 win for Red Bull, the Drivers’ Championship continues to be led by the Dutchman Max Verstapppen with 93 points, followed by Checo who accumulates 88. The podium is closed by the Spanish Fernando Alonso with 60.

On the other hand, Red Bull dominates the Constructors’ Championship with 181 points, followed by Aston Martin with 87. Mercedes follows them with 76.
